Dozens of French Bulldogs Are Waiting for Adoption at the Denver Animal Shelter

Two dozen French Bulldogs were recently rescued from inhumane living conditions, and you'll have the chance to adopt one this Saturday.

|

Cancel your Saturday plans. Two dozen French Bulldogs between 1 and 7 years old will be up for adoption this Saturday at the Denver Animal Shelter. The Frenchies came to DAS after a special investigation by Denver Animal Protection officers and the Denver Police Department. They’ve received medical care for their teeth, eyes, and more, and now they just need to find their fur-ever homes.

9News reports that the dogs were being kept in a home “so filthy it required a police officer to ‘don personal protective gear before’ conducting a search of the property.” Authorities found 35 dogs total—24 French Bulldogs, one English bulldog, and three Boston Terriers. The woman who owned the dogs, Marleen Puzak, was charged with 12 felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals as well as 35 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals. She relinquished ownership of the animals.

All 24 Frenchies will be up for adoption at the shelter’s special event on Saturday. Potential adopters can begin lining up at 8 a.m. The event is hosted on a first-come, first-served basis, and the requested adoption fee is $400 per animal, which includes the shelter’s standard fee, in addition to a suggested donation to recoup some of the costs of the pups’ care. All potential adopters will need to bring their driver’s license or photo ID with their current address. (See below for more information from the Denver Animal Shelter.)
