It seems like every election produces at least one extremely close result. In 2002 it was the 7th Congressional District race that was decided by 121 votes. That seems like a landslide compared to the election in State House District 23 in Jefferson County, where Republican incumbent Ramey Johnson is holding a four vote lead over Democrat Gwyn Green -- 13,220 to 13,216. (Libertarian candidate Michael T. McKinzie earned 902 votes). This is well within the one half percent threshhold for an automatic recount under Colorado law, so we will not know the ultimate outcome of this race for several more days. The result won't threaten the Democrats' newfound control of the House; in fact, a victory would increase the Democrats' current three-seat advantage.
