Chef News: Larkspur's Thomas Salamunovich

Vail's Larkspur chef, Thomas Salamunovich, has one goal when he and his 13-year-old son, Leo, appear on "The Today Show" tomorrow morning: teach Leo, and his two other sons, how to make farm-fresh eggs with crab-potato stuffing and caviar fondue. Salamunovich wants breakfast in bed on Father's Day.  Salamunovich's appearance on national TV is a nod to his continued success as one of Vail's top restaurateurs. Not only does Larkspur, Salamunovich's founding restaurant, continually receive accolades from local and national press, but in recent years Salamunovich has opened a handful of other Vail restaurants, including Larkburger, a chic burger jointthat melts sharp Tillamook cheddar over its cooked-to-order Coleman natural beef patties. Check out Larkburger in more detail in 5280's August road-trip restaurant, or wait and visit the restaurant yourself in October, when Salamunovich and partner Adam Baker open a Boulder location at 28th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. Salamunovich predicts a Denver Larkburger within the next year.
