Parents in Pueblo are outraged after a ninth-grade history project meant to teach students about terrorism went askew. About 110 freshmen at Pueblo County High School were told late last week to come up with a plot for an act of terrorism, according to 7News, which reports that after parents expressed dismay, the school district collected the assignments from students and destroyed them. District 70 Superintendent Dan Lere admits some students could have misinterpreted the assignment and warned that if students "actually did illustrate an act of terrorism that they might commit, let's say against the school," they could be expelled. Gini Fischer, a parent, was shocked when her daughter described the project, according to 11News in southern Colorado, which writes that there is no word yet on whether the teacher who came up with the project will be disciplined.
