More than five decades ago, investigators found the body of a naked and beaten woman along the banks of Boulder Creek, near the falls eight miles west of Boulder. Although she didn't have a name, authorities never forgot "Jane Doe," working the case as they were able. Breaks came, leading to an exhumation and DNA testing.
Now, Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle, who praises the work of investigators, including Detective Steve Ainsworth, confirms the body, found on April 8, 1954, is that of Dorothy Gay Howard. She was 18 when she was reported missing from Phoenix, Arizona, just weeks before her death, writes the Daily Camera.
Investigators say they are on track to determine what happened during Dorothy's last hours. One theory, based thus far on circumstantial evidence, is that serial killer Harvey Glatman, who was executed in California in 1959 for the murders of three women, killed Dorothy, known as "Dot" by her family.
An effort is underway to raise funds for a new headstone for Dorothy, who is buried in a Boulder graveyard (via 9News).Comments

Glatman another known victim in Boulder County where he was convicted of taking her into the local mountains, just as with Dorothy Gay Howard. That victim lived to testify.

I have to agree with Kim on this one. I am a die hard mystery fan. Most of the serial killers i have heard or read about stick with the same MO. if all victims were hidden from view, why would this one case be different?? Secondly, if he confessed about the previous three murders, why not admit that he killed a fourth?? I do not believe Glatman killed Dot.

I truly do not think that it was Glatman who killed Dot , I believe he would have told the LE when he told of the others he killed. Also I believe that the way this women was killed did not mimic the way the other women were killed. He took pictures and tied these other women , he didn't beat them to death . He also put all his other victims in locations where they would not be found, why would he put Dot out in the open like that? I know he said something to the effect that all the women were alive unless "they were run over " , but I just don't see it being him for Dots death. JMO

It's a long shot that it was Glatman, sure. It's not even known how Howard ended up in Colorado.
Still, the Howard incident happened years before Glatman developed his Cal MO and given that she was hit and then abandoned while still alive, the perp may have fled in fear - which mean Glatman isn't eliminated based on these facts.
Glatman may have not wanted to admit to Howard because it would have delayed his wishes for a Cal execution by opening a case in another state.
