Holiday Happy Hour: Oak Tavern

If you're looking for a social escape after a long, carb-filled, family-friendly Thanksgiving, head to Oak Tavern to watch the Broncos face off against the Giants during the Tavern's Thanksgiving Day Turkeybowl. The game begins at 6:20 p.m., but the pre-game party starts at 4 and the post-game festivities last until 2 a.m. While pumpkin pie, apple cider, and eggnog are on the menu, so are $3 Coors Light drafts and specials on 15 holiday-themed drinks, like the Frosty Noggin, served in a parfait glass with rum, crème de cacao, eggnog, and vanilla ice cream. Or try the Mistletoe, served in a highball glass with crème de almond, white crème de cacao, Swiss mocha cream, grenadine, and coca-cola. Oak Tavern's regular happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m. with $4 specialty drinks, such as the Red Rocks, which features kiwi puree, Casa Noble tequila, agave nectar, and strawberries. Or try the Mile High Iced Tea with Colorado-based Peach Street Distiller's Goat vodka and Jackelope gin. Oak Tavern also offers $3 to $4 appetizers during happy hour. On the list are backyard skewers, Magical Three's stuffed mushrooms, nachos, and a build-your-own baked potato that can be stacked with more than 25 ingredients. If Thursday's game is what draws you in, every Sunday the Oak Tavern hosts watch parties. Start early, at 10 a.m., and prepare yourself for the 11:05 kickoff with $2 PBR's, $3 wells, Coors Light Drafts, and $4 house Bloody Mary's and mimosas. 1416 Market St., 303-623-0173

Impressive menu, first local restuarant downtown that has baked potatos big enough AND delicious enough to be your entire meal! recommend happy hour or game day, great menu

A local gem.Think decor thats nicer then your parents, TV screens the size of most gymnasits and a menu thats descriptions only come second to its flavor...before oak taven i never knew i liked potatos and UFC as much as i do...

I had a wonderful experience at Oak Tavern..the atmosphere is very welcoming. It has a an edgy and classy yet comfortable feel to it which is nice because you can enjoy a cocktail in a very classy looking place but not be dropping hundreds of dollars. The staff there were very friendly and the vibes were great! I got to sit and relax at one of the big round booths and watch the game on there awesome hi-def tv screens throughout the whole bar. I will be back for there fight night!
