Ever since Rooster & Moon Coffee Pub opened in late 2009, the Golden Triangle coffee-pub (yep, it's a bar too) has served as my oasis. I spend a lot of time there, writing, editing, and tapping away at my laptop. I go for the coffee (Allegro) as much as I go for the urban vibe and the well-rounded menu of salads and sandwiches (my fave is the Havana, a riff on the Cuban).

One thing I always make room for—even at 10 a.m.— is the shop's banana pudding. Billed as Grandma Patsy's Banana Puddin', the dessert-turned-snack is creamy and smooth, with the ideal ratio of Nilla Wafers and sliced bananas stirred into the mix.

The old-fashioned treat takes me back to summer camp where pudding—be it chocolate, butterscotch, or banana—was served in huge, seemingly bottomless bowls with serving spoons for doling out portions. There was comfort in those bowls—just as there is in each heaping bite of Rooster & Moon's nostalgic treat.

My only complaint is that the pudding comes in a disposable cup (though it is a recyclable one). While convenient to grab and go, it would be all the better to have the option of a real dish.
