Sweet Stuff: Cakeheads' Whoopie Pies

The whoopie pie trend may be fading, but one local bakery is still churning out some of the best. Cakeheads offers the cake-like sandwich in 14 flavors, from traditional chocolate-vanilla to a more adventurous limoncello flavor.

Biting in, you don't realize that the perfectly crumbly cake sandwiching luscious buttercream frosting is all-natural, made from scratch, and trans fat-free--it's just an added benefit. Our favorites are the maple brown sugar (tastes like a handheld slice of French toast) and the chocolate-pomegranate, which adds a welcome tang to the dark chocolate crust.

Find it at: Whole Foods, Tony's, and Lucky's markets and Kaos Pizzeria.
