Pizza spots are popping up around Boulder right and left, but Backcountry Pizza & Tap House offers something different: a dazzling, whole-wall display of 50-plus taps. If the 23 full-time and 27 rotating draughts don’t win you over, Backcountry also has 77 bottles of beer in its cellar.

A few of the more unusual finds when I visited included Mikkeller’s Monk’s Brew, a Danish take on a Belgian-style quadruple ale, and the collaborative Japanese Green Tea IPA from Baird Brewing Company, Ishii Brewing Co., and Stone Brewing Co. (100 percent of proceeds benefit Japanese tsunami relief).

Even with such attention on the suds, Backcountry’s food menu does not disappoint. We go for the Nediterranean pizza, a pesto-and-red-sauce pie loaded with pine nuts, garlic, roasted red peppers, artichokes, kalamata olives, and feta.
