Go Now: Lucky's Bakehouse and Creamery

Anyone who remembers Boulder’s Blue Fine Pastries—and still misses the heavenly treats that were crafted inside the bird’s-egg-blue bakery—will be thrilled to know pastry chef Jen Bush is back in business. This time, she’s top toque at Lucky's Bakehouse and Creamery in North Boulder.

The just-opened patisserie joins Lucky’s Market and Lucky’s Cafe in reflecting owner Bo Sharon's commitment to hyper-local, farm-fresh ingredients (Sharon even has an organic farm in the works). Bush incorporates top-quality products such as Conscious CoffeesJustin’s Nut Butters, and Noosa Yogurt into her highly finessed breads and confections. Don’t miss the brandied S’mores cake (pictured) with a decadent chocolate base topped with marshmallow fluff, a homemade graham, a curl of chocolate, and a hint of Maldon sea salt. Or, pair your morning coffee (no espresso here) with the indulgently sticky cinnamon-caramel monkey bread.

Bonus: Bush also churns organic, small-batch ice cream in flavors like drive-in popcorn and Madhava honey lavender.
