Fancy Tiger’s Civilized Living series is a curated First Friday event about all things Denver. This month, the focus is on traditional jewelry-making methods with Colleen Heineman and Jackie Barr of Red Bench Jewelry. Barr will demonstrate her hand-forged brass and sterling silver work (see the bar necklace, $40, pictured, above), while Heineman will highlight her delicate hand-cut and pierced sterling silver.
Friday, September 6, 6-9 p.m., Fancy Tiger Clothing, 55 Broadway, 303-733-3855; free
More fall fashion events await you at Park Meadows Mall’s Fashion Fabulous. Learn about this season’s must-have items, pick up wardrobe tips from on-hand style experts, or visit a Beauty Bar for a makeover or touch-up. If you want a shot at becoming the next international supermodel (and, perhaps, a $250 shopping spree), work the runway at the 3rd Annual Show Us Your Style Contest. Tip: Check in at Guest Services at 3 p.m. and be one of the first 100 people to receive a swag bag filled with beauty products and handbag essentials.
Saturday, September 7, 3-7 p.m., Park Meadows Mall, 8401 Park Meadows Center Dr., 303-792-2999; free
Fashion’s Night Out may be taking a break in 2013, but many Denver area stores are going ahead with September parties. The newest addition to the calendar comes from the Women’s Jewelry Association, a 30-year-old national organization that launched its first Colorado chapter last month. At the WJA’s Jewelry Night Out Ground Swell event, guests can view the Jewelry Is Art installation—featuring designs from premier local artists such as Carla Morrison, Ashley Schenkein, Todd Reed (pictured, left: Reed's 18-karat gold, silver, and Australian raw diamond earrings, $2,970) and Andrea Li—and then mingle with the industry professionals over cocktails.
Thursday, September 12, 6-9 p.m., Walker Fine Art Gallery, 300 W. 11th Ave., 303-355-8955, walkerfineart.com; free
Outerwear and gear specialist Patagonia launches the Legacy Collection this month in celebration of the brand's 40th anniversary. The capsule line reinterprets 10 classic pieces in contemporary fabrics, while updating fit and function. Fans will find a range of items from a new Cagoule rain jacket (first developed for British mountain climbers in the 1960s) to a refreshed Summit Pack (introduced in the 1980s). My favorite is the two-tone, organic cotton Stand Up Pants ($129,pictured, left). Adapted from a design used for ironworkers (the double legs kept ironstock from chafing against the thighs), the bottoms proved popular with early climbers.
