Honeyfest
With 100-plus local vendors selling goods such as local honey, doughnuts, cookies, and more, you’ll want to make sure your sweet tooth is sufficiently prepared for this sugary soiree. In addition to indulgences from Styria Bakery, Dapper Doughnut Truck, and Tart and Soul Bakery, there will be savory delights including sauces from Quarantine Project Hot Sauce and bitters from the Boozy Botanist. You can keep the sugar high going all summer long, since the event is the first in Curate Mercantile’s series of themed fests; you still have Cherryfest, Peachfest, Applefest, and BBQfest to look forward to. May 16; 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; free admission

Biennial of the Americas: Party on the Plaza
There are so many ways to experience the culture of a country: cuisine, art, music, and people. At this sprawling celebration of the Americas, Denverites will become acquainted with the delicacies of various countries including Brazil, Peru, Haiti, and Costa Rica. Fill your belly with gorditas and tamales from Mexican outfit Tlaquesalsa and hear live music performances from the likes of Peruvian DJ Soldetropico. The bash commemorates the opening of “Horizon Drift,” a newly commissioned textile-based art installation by Rachel Hayes at the Plaza of the Americas on Wewatta Street. May 17; 4–9 p.m.; free admission

Stranahan’s Cask Thief
The whiskey at this annual tasting is better than top shelf: Stranahan’s head blender is personally curating a menu of from-the-vault spirits that aren’t typically available. As you sample six different tipples straight from the barrel, you can enjoy catered barbecue and live music. Before you go home, purchase a bottle of one of the six rare spirits—a privilege only granted to guests. May 18; noon–3 p.m.; starting at $75 per ticket

¡Lotería!
Take a break from contentious Catan battles and monotonous family monopoly and head to this lively game night hosted by Focus Points Family Resource Center. If you’ve never played Lotería, you’ll catch on quick; it’s a beloved Mexican game of chance similar to bingo. While you try to win big, you can hear music from Los Mocochetes, sip on craft cocktails, and graze on grub from Comal, Focus Points’ sister social enterprise restaurant. We recommend upgrading your ticket to include a pregame reception with food from James Beard Award–winning Frasca. May 18; 6–10 p.m., reception starts at 5 p.m.; $100–$200

Wings & Whiskey

Many would call wings, whiskey, and beer the holy trinity, but at this fundraising foodie event, the combo really is saintly. That’s because proceeds from this Ace Eat Serve–hosted competition go to the Denver Youth Employment Academy, a nonprofit that helps young adults break generational poverty through employment training. So, feel no regret as you devour chicken from eight restaurants—including MAKfam and the Post—vying for the “best wing” award, sip brews from Weldwerks, order whiskey cocktails from an open bar, and listen to live tunes from Bodango. May 19; starts at 3 p.m.; $70–$90

Mediums represented include sculpture (Littleton’s Melissa Cooper), oil paintings (Highlands Ranch–based Jie Wei Zhou), and pastels (Denver’s Deborah Bays).
