New: Shazz Cafe and Bar’s Mid-Winter Menu

Shazz Cafe and Bar—a popular farm-to-table eatery in northwest Denver—recently launched its mid-winter menu, and it’s something to celebrate. The new lineup is chock-full of root vegetables, wild mushrooms, bitter greens, and locally produced, organic meat.

A group of us spent Friday night eating our way through the new offerings. Some of our favorites included: the tender braised oxtail served atop smooth grits seasoned with Asiago cheese and sage; a curly endive salad tossed with sweet slices of poached pear, crunchy pistachios, and a tart pomegranate gastrique; thick, house-made tagliarini pasta with plump bites of grilled heritage chicken, roasted pumpkin seeds, dried currants, and butternut-squash ragu; and the fall-from-the-bone braised lamb shank with chewy farro and roasted carrots.

We somehow managed to save room—and we’re thankful we did—for the hazelnut panna cotta and the rich and sweet sticky toffee pudding.
