Get Involved: Hit a Home Run Against Hunger
•A foot-long hot dog at Coors Field costs $6.50. For that same amount, the Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) can serve three plates of fried chicken with gravy and rice to those in need—and still have money left over. This month, you can help fill a few of those plates by saving the change from your concession stand visit and donating $1 or $3 to the Hit a Home Run Against Hunger Food Drive.
For three years, the Rockies and King Soopers have partnered with the Denver Rescue Mission to help fight hunger. Each day, DRM provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner to those who visit their shelters. Each meal costs $1.92 and the DRM’s Lawrence Street shelter—a half-mile walk from Coors Field—serves nearly 1,000 meals each day.
