Knowing how busy everyone in Denver seems to be these days (especially with the weather quickly warming up), I thought it’d be wise to get one of spring’s most exciting events on your radar now: Music Matters May. and the Art District on Santa Fe have concocted an event that brings musicians and artists together for “authentic, live, and unplugged performances.” Over three weekends (May 10–11; May 18–19; and May 24–25) 18 galleries will serve as performance venues for this one-of-a-kind celebration of Denver’s stellar talent. Single-night tickets run just $40 and include three drinks. Bonus: The event benefits’s efforts to create positive social change through music.

Get even more involved: Colorado Public Radio‘s Annual Instrument Drive may have already wrapped, but you can still help—or benefit—from the effort. Each year, CPR collects donated instruments, has them repaired by the Colorado Insitute of Musical Instrument Technology, and provides them to school music programs in need. Monetary donations are still being accepted (details here). Schools that want to apply to receive instruments can find applications (the deadline is April 30) here.
