It’s about time downtown Denver diversified its lineup of accommodations. As of this week, the area’s newest lodging option, the Art Hotel, is officially open for business. The 165-room space doubles as a gallery, with paintings and sculptures located in hallways, rooms, and the restaurant. A private dining room, terrace, fitness center, and numerous conference rooms round out the offerings. Take a peek inside by clicking through the slideshow above. Then invite your out-of-town friends to come visit, because they won’t need to take over your house anymore.

Also on the fourth floor is the hotel’s restaurant, Fire. The space, of course, doubles as a gallery
Fire’s patio offers a view toward downtown and of bustling Broadway below
Even the rooms (this one is located on the eighth floor) have a touch of whimsy
Suites get extra touches of color
Joel Otterson’s aptly named “Bottoms Up”—composed of almost 200 found goblets—hangs over the table in the private dining room
A beautifully rendered Pinocchio by artist Jim Dine keeps watch over visitors to one of the eighth-floor suites
Walk down the fourth floor hallway and you’ll come across this striking neon mixed-media painting by Mickalene Thomas. The modern take on Picasso’s style is unmistakable in “Untitled #5.”
If you forgot that the Denver Art Museum is just around the corner, this scale model of Coosje van Bruggen and Claes Oldenburg’s 35-foot-tall “Big Sweep” sculpture—which sits at the entrance to the DAM—will remind you. (A drawing of the work hangs in the background.)
