Now That’s Some Epic Pow

Crested Butte received more than 90 inches (that's 7.5 feet!) of snow in just 10 days. And it's made for some fine skiing.

It’s time for powder hounds to head for the hills. In just 10 days, Crested Butte Mountain Resort has enjoyed more than 90 inches (that’s 7.5 feet!) of fresh snow. In fact, the snowfall was so epic (and unusual) that the resort was forced to shut down early on Monday due to safety concerns, a first in recent history. It reopened on Tuesday, and skiers and snowboarders have since been treated to fresh, powdery slopes that won’t soon be forgotten. Over half of the resort’s 542 acres of terrain is ready and waiting for you to make your turns.

So what are you waiting for, Denver? We’re sure your bosses won’t mind if you bail early on Friday to journey up to the Butte. After all, snow like this doesn’t come around too often. While you’re there, make sure to check out the Mountain High Music Festival (January 11–15) and unwind to some live music after a long day playing in pow.
