Día de los Muertos | November 1-2
Meaning “day of the dead,” Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday dedicated to praying and remembering family and friends who have died. Over time, the holiday has transformed into a celebration with food, music, and face painting. The Art District on Santa Fe is hosting a Day of the Dead celebration beginning with a screening of Disney’s Coco on November 1 at 6:30 p.m. The following day, the celebration will feature Catrina face paintings and community altars. At 7.pm., there will be a community procession through downtown Denver to honor loved ones who have passed away. The procession will begin at the corner of Galapagos Street and 9th. Denver Arts Week | November 2-10
The Mile High City celebrates its eccentric art scene for nine days this month during the Denver Arts Week. From the Denver Fashion Week to the film festival and gallery exhibitions, Denver Arts Week is overflowing with events. Although some require an admission fee, many of the events are free—including a complementary night at Denver’s museums on November 3—allowing visitors to experience a wide range of Colorado culture. 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Multiple locations

Veterans Parade and Festival | November 10
In honor of those who have served, the Colorado Veterans Project is hosting the Denver Veterans Day Parade and Festival. The parade, which starts at 14th Street and W. Colfax Ave, is divided into sections representing different wars in which the U.S. has fought. The parade will conclude at the Veterans Day Festival located at Civic Center Park. Live music, food trucks, and children’s activities will be featured at the festival. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and the festival ends at 3 p.m.; 101 W. 14th Avenue
Bighorn Sheep Festival | November 10
You read that right. The Town of Georgetown and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are celebrating Colorado’s state mammal, the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. The festival is focused on education and observing the sheep in their natural habitat. In addition to short wildlife educational programming, one of Colorado’s oldest bighorn sheep herds will be visible. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 1491 Argentine Street, Georgetown
Evergreen Energy Expo | November 10
Learn more about sustainability and minimizing your carbon footprint at the Evergreen Energy Expo. From test-driving electric cars to featuring environmentally friendly vendors and products, the event will offer ways to bring sustainability into your life and home. Christkindl Market | November 16 – December 23
Feeling festive already? Denver’s annual Christkindl Market, meaning Christ-child in German, will start bustling out Christmas cheer this month. Every year, Christkindl brings authentic German traditions to Denver. To get you in the holiday spirit, the market will feature festive beverages, hand-crafted jewelry, toys, clothing, German Polka music, holiday hymns, and dancing. Opt Outside | November 23
If the Black Friday madness isn’t your cup of tea, why not #optoutside? Four years ago, REI closed its doors in the hopes that its customers would flee to the mountains instead of the sales rack—and it worked. Since then, the movement has inspired people to routinely find time to get outside and post about their experience on Instagram.
