Oyster Month Deals at Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar | March 1-31
In an ode to the humble oyster, for the entire month of March, all Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar locations will offer specials, wine-pairings, contests, giveaways, parties, and more. National Pancake Day at Snooze | March 5
This year’s National Pancake Day coincides with Fat Tuesday, so you have an extra reason to gorge yourself on flapjacks. If that isn’t excuse enough, this should be: Snooze is bringing back six of its long-missed flavors just for this magical holiday. Iterations will include king cake (a honey cinnamon pancake topped with vanilla buttercream, maple bourbon sauce, and raw sugar) and blackberry sublime (which tops a white chocolate chip buttermilk pancake with key lime pie filling, graham cracker crumble, blackberries, and whipped cream). Five of the females leading Colorado’s culinary scene will cook for attendees at this empowering—and delicious—dinner. What happens at this Sin City–themed gala won’t stay there because all the proceeds go to programming for the Boulder branch of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). Held at the Boulder Jewish Community Center, there will be poker and other casino games, dishes from Blackbelly Market (think: rotisserie chicken with herb butter), drinks including Twisted Pine Brewing beer, and music from Elvis impersonator Aaron Black. 36th Annual Great Chefs of the West Event | March 13
Celebrate the diversity of Colorado’s restaurant scene at this charitable culinary event. Gourmands will sample bites from Departure Denver Restaurant & Lounge, El Five, Old Major, and many more of the Mile High City’s best eateries. Pace yourself, though, as there will be chefs from more than 20 Denver restaurants cooking for the massive event, including the evening’s chef chairs Kathryn Caine of Death & Co. and Fruition Restaurant’s Franco Ruiz. Collaboration Fest | March 16
Have you ever wanted to taste an ale aged with blackberries? Maybe a kviek brewed with Ponderosa pine? If so, you’re in luck, for those are just a taste of the many unique concoctions you can sample during this teamwork-themed festival. Over 200 brewers from Colorado and beyond have paired up to make specialty collaboration suds for the event. The result? Colorado Craft Beer Week | March 16-23
Cherish all the Colorado craft beer you can drink at the seventh-annual celebration. This sudsy, week-long soirée kicks off with more than 100 craft beer samples at Collaboration Fest (see above). The closing event, the Big Reveal, will be hosted at Union Station, where attendees can sample 20 traditional, Colorado-made IPAs. Join the folks at Intrepid Sojourner for an all-day party in honor of Greek Independence Day. The brewery will release a Baklava-inspired herb ale and lead a cookie and beer pairing for the occasion. Guests can also savor Greek dishes from Deputy Spudslinger food truck, browse a craft market put on by Denver’s Crafted Art Emporium, and play lawn games—including corn hole and giant versions of beer pong and flip cup—in the bar’s beer garden. Roman Food Expert Katie Parla Comes to Colorado | March 24 and 25
Love Roman food? Get your fill at two separate dinners, both featuring journalist and food educator Katie Parla and her new cookbook, Food of the Italian South. Parla will be at Coperta in Uptown on the 24th and Boulder’s Frasca Food and Wine on the 25th, where she’ll sign copies of her book and greet guests.
