If exercising more is one of your New Year’s resolutions, stay motivated by signing up for a bike ride that will challenge you later in the year. These paved options cater to a range of fitness levels and training schedules. While it may seem like these dates are a long way off, remember: It’s never too soon to start training.
Triple C Bike Ride
What: Your choice of three flat, early-season rides of 43, 62, or 101 miles, which begin and end in Broomfield.

When: May 16
How: Register online; $75
Tip: Sign up for a longer distance, since there will be several opportunities en route to shorten your ride if necessary.
Ride the Rockies
What: Colorado’s classic week-long, fully supported tour through some of the state’s most spectacular scenery. This year’s trek crosses through the Colorado National Monument and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
When: June 14 to 20
How: Admission of online applications, which are accepted until 5 p.m. on March 1, is done by lottery; $495
Tip: Ride the Rockies’ routes average 60 to 70 miles per day, so consistent and serious training is key.
Stonewall Century Ride
What: An out-and-back, 102-mile-long ride with 7,500 feet of elevation gain along southeastern Colorado’s Highway of Legends.
When: July 18
How: Register online or by mail. The early bird price of $60 ends April 30.
Tip: This route does not have a mass start, but it’s best to start early to avoid any afternoon buildup.
Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle
What: Beginning and ending at Copper Mountain Resort, this 78-mile loop ascends Fremont, Tennessee, and Vail Passes for a total elevation gain of 6,000 feet.
When: August 1, 2015
How: Online registration is available through July 28, or by mail through June 27. The early bird price of $125 ends on March 31.
Tip: Train at elevation as much as possible the month before this ride.
Axel Project Bicycle Classic
What: Your choice of a 48- or 80-mile ride over Dallas Divide (and back) in the scenic San Juan Mountains.
When: September 5
How: Register online through September 2. The early bird price of $130 ends on April 28.
Tip: To prep for Dallas Divide, practice regularly on local climbs like Golden’s Lookout Mountain.
