Malty? Hoppy? Piney hops and a bit of rye

A few months ago, a colleague returned from a weekend trip to Telluride boasting about the mountain town’s local beer. In particular, he was impressed with Telluride Brewing’s Bridal Veil Rye Pale Ale. I hadn’t heard of the brew, but, luckily, not long after his discovery, sixers of the stuff started showing up on liquor stores around the Front Range. Good news for Denver’s craft beer drinkers.
If you like Dale’s Pale Ale, you’ll dig Telluride’s Bridal Veil. The beer has a pleasant hop bite that is reminiscent of grapefruit, and the rye imparts a bit of spiciness, but isn’t overpowering. And with a medium body and a not-too-strong 5.5 percent ABV, this crisp ale is plenty drinkable. We can almost picture ourselves sipping one (or two) this summer after winding along a singletrack trail in the hills beyond Boulder.
Would we buy it again? We’ll start to look for this brew more often this summer.
