ColoradoSenateNews is causing a stir after reporting that Governor Bill Ritter “seemed to retract his controversial support for relocating the detainees” at Guantanamo Bay to the federal Supermax prison in Colorado if feds deem it necessary. The blog jumped on remarks Ritter made during his monthly appearance on 850 KOA’s Mike Rosen Show, even quoting Republican state lawmakers as praising the governor for his change of heart.
But hold on just a second–or 23. The 23-second clip that ColoradoSenateNews used ignores 150 additional words that “make clear” Rosen and Ritter were having a more nuanced conversation about a subset of detainees, according to The Colorado Independent. Ritter’s spokesman, Evan Dreyer, says the governor’s position hasn’t changed and was incensed by ColoradoSenateNews’ reporting: “They’re just making stuff up.”

Meanwhile, Congressman Doug Lamborn, a Colorado Springs Republican, has introduced a bill meant to prevent the detainees from coming to Colorado, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
