Shorter version: We think he lied his a** off, but we can’t prove it and we don’t want to be sued by his lawyer, David Lane.
My view: The coverage is excessive. The only real issue of interest should be the academic freedom issue. But this will feed Caplis, Silverman, and O’Reilly for a full week, and bring the paper lots of national publicity. Score one for the News.
