Denver Nuggets fans were confident their team would make the playoffs, but surely nobody wanted to see them take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round. That hope was quashed with yesterday’s announcement of the playoff seeding, which has the Nuggets and Thunder squaring off for game one on Sunday in Oklahoma City. The Kevin Durant-led Thunder spanked the Nuggets twice last week, planting some nervousness in Denver.
“The Nuggets have great chemistry and play with a unified passion that delights purists everywhere,” writes NBA.com. “The only thing they don’t have is a superstar to carry them if need be…. Thunder in six.” But you won’t hear the Nuggets talking like that. “This is when all the fun starts,” Denver guard Raymond Felton said after losing last night’s season finale to the Utah Jazz 107-103 (Denver Post). Nuggets head coach George Karl says he thinks his team just needs to stay aggressive. Let’s hope they’ll have the services of guard Ty Lawson, the team’s sparkplug this season. Lawson sprained his left ankle during last night’s game, but predicts he’ll be just fine by game one.
