As the summer heat approaches, Denver Animal Control officers will scour city parking spots, particularly those surrounding Coors Field and Elitch Gardens, to check vehicles for dogs inside. As animal control sergeant A. McSpadden tells 9News, dogs can succumb quickly to heat prostration, a condition that may cause brain damage and even death. Meanwhile, the little Shiba Inu who was taped to a refrigerator following a domestic dispute has been renamed Yoshi in an online contest by the Humane Society of Boulder County. The name means “good luck” in Japanese, writes The Denver Post, which notes Yoshi, who was adopted, was named Rex before University of Colorado student Amy Toll was arrested in April for the incident involving her boyfriend’s pup. Speaking of dogs, Duane Chapman, aka “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” was involved in a rollover accident in Colorado Springs as he pursued a man wanted on an alleged narcotics violation, reports 7News.
