Whether it’s the tender bomboloni at Caffè or the warm, sugary companions for spicy hot chocolate from the Kitchen, I can’t resist a good donut. The latest confection to tempt me is Dizzy’s Donuts’ line-up of old-world and new-school flavors. The treats are currently available at Ozo Coffee and Vic’s Espresso, but will soon be sold at Dizzy’s Donuts brick-and-mortar.
Eric Guthrie, the owner and classically trained pastry chef behind Dizzy’s, plans to open his gourmet donut shop in the old Ralphie’s location near Arapahoe and 55th Avenue in Boulder at the end of July. A true donut connoisseur, Guthrie offers an array of handcrafted goodies that are fresh, light—but not too airy—and loaded with flavor. Choose from the traditional glazed, chocolate frosted, and cinnamon twist flavors, or sample more innovative takes like PB&J, jalapeño cheddar with Tabasco glaze, Key lime, and, my personal favorite, the maple-bacon square.
