There’s something new brewing at Dry Dock Brewing Company‘s second production site, North Dock. Thanks to the help of Englewood-based sports equipment store Fly Green Disc Golf, the Aurora locale is now home to a nine-hole, three-and-a-half-acre, nautical-themed disc golf course. The best part? Disc golfers have easy access to the brewery for refilling their glasses throughout the game.
The set-up was built last fall, and since then hundreds of frolfers have already ventured out to give it a go—even in the snow. And although Denver’s weather hasn’t exactly been balmy this spring, the nautical decor (like an old boat marooned in the middle of the course) makes for a summery, seaside vibe.
That's only $1 per issue!
Players of all skill levels are welcomed. You’ll likely spot a mix of die-hard frisbee golfers toting around their pricey disc collections as well as curious newbies looking for a happy hour activity that’s a bit more challenging than corn hole or giant Jenga. Novices can head over to the on-site Canoe Room—a nine-tap tasting room—to pick up some Dry Dock-branded discs for their game. Even if the Canoe Room isn’t open, you can hit the course anytime during the day—rain or shine—for free.
Bonus: The Aurora 125 Geocache Project is in full swing. (For those not familiar, geocaching is like a giant scavenger hunt. People place hidden trinkets or notes, mark the spot on a GPS, and leave it for you to find. Download the geocaching app on your phone to play anywhere.) Twelve geocaches have been placed around Aurora in honor of the city’s 125th birthday. Hint: One of them is at North Dock. Can you find it?
Double bonus: Dry Dock is releasing its Aurora Ale today at 2 p.m. at North Dock. This celebratory blonde beverage was brewed with beet sugar in honor of the town’s beet-growing roots, and it’ll be available in 22-ounce bombers. Comida food truck will be present with tacos to fuel all that beer drinking and disc golf playing.
2801 Tower Rd., Aurora, 303-400-5606
The Canoe Room is open Thursdays from 2 to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m.
