In my mind, a hard day’s work deserves a trip to The Wine Loft in LoDo.
The space is elegant but inviting, with tall ceilings, dark wood, and cushioned seating. And the wine list provides a diverse range of pours, including glass and bottle selections from California, France, Argentina, Colorado, and more.
That's only $1 per issue!
But it’s the food that really grabs me. Last week after work, a friend and I split a small serving of slightly sweet pumpkin ravioli with sage brown butter, as well as a narrow platter of spicy, house-made Italian sausage and tender shrimp scampi atop a comforting bed of mild goat-cheese grits. Both paired surprisingly well with a glass of 2008 Tomero Torrontes from Argentina. This is the summer dress of wine—pretty and floral, with just enough layering.
Tip: During happy hour (4 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 3 to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday) discount prices make these mini-meals that much more alluring. All appetizers are $2 off, and glasses of wine $11 and under go for just $5.
