“I can get down on some ice cream,” says singer-songwriter Tayler Doyle. When the Metro State University jazz student isn’t toughing out the wait at LoHi’s Little Man Ice Cream (his standing order is a double scoop of salted Oreo), he’s playing music. The Colorado native has found a way to fuse vintage surf sound with western Americana to the tune of something he calls “Santa Fe Surf Rock.” His band, the Kinky Fingers, which is made up in part by bassist Nate Wilson, is slated to play at Snowboard on the Block next month. Doyle and Wilson have more in common than just music—check out the video for their takes on Denver dive bars, beer, and Illegal Pete’s queso.
