Philip F. Dileo shot his wife, Elizabeth, and his grown son, Philip Christopher, according to Boulder police, and had “a little temper,” says a neighbor, but mainly led a quiet life that gave scant indication of the violence to come earlier this week in the otherwise blissful suburbs. In hindsight, the neighbor adds, the entire family was “a little fiery” and short-tempered, writes Boulder’s Daily Camera. Police yesterday described what they found in the house on the 2400 block of Bluff Street as a “planned homicide-suicide” that apparently occurred on Monday morning. Investigators recovered a Ruger .22 semiautomatic handgun with a silencer from the kitchen near Elizabeth’s body and a .357 Magnum revolver near Philip F. Dileo’s body, along with a note indicating his funeral wishes, reports 7News. Philip F. Dileo worked briefly as a police officer in Boulder in the 1970s, but was terminated for disciplinary reasons, and, in 2005, his wife consulted police about purchasing a gun because her husband had made threats. Philip F. Dileo had also possibly threatened his son, notes The Denver Post, citing police.
