Larimer Square remains a major destination for Denver diners, but, as of this week it’s short one restaurant: Tom’s Urban. According to a statement from a spokesperson, the concept made the decision to close as the lease term ended. The brainchild of entrepreneur Tom Ryan of Smashburger, the eatery was initially named “Tom’s Urban 24,” and served an eclectic diner menu 24 hours a day. Nearly two years in, “24” was dropped from the name, hours of service were halved, and the color-palette (originally diner-esque blues and oranges) was toned down to loungy light browns. Tom’s Urban isn’t gone for good, however, as it’s still forging ahead with a new location inside the Westin Hotel at the Denver International Airport, slated to open later this summer.

RiNo will soon have one less eatery as Rebel Restaurant is planning its exit. The quirky, almost three-year-old restaurant, located inside a former dive bar at 38th Street and Brighton Boulevard, has always been a labor of love for chef-owners Bo Porytko and Dan Lasiy. While Rebel gained loyal fans and good reviews, the quickly changing neighborhood has been a continuous construction zone since opening, which did not make life easy. “The timeline [for closure] is uncertain now,” Lasiy says. “We put the word out to the restaurant community that we would prefer if someone would take over our lease…and we will most certainly have a going away party for everyone that has shown their support over the years.” If you love Rebel, get over there ASAP to say your goodbyes. 3763 Wynkoop St., 303-297-3902

Sunnyside’s Cheese & Provisions isn’t closing, but its owners, husband-and-wife team Steve and Kim Duty, are actively trying to sell their business. “It is for personal reasons,” Kim shared. “We are a fourth quarter business, which means that we have not and will not spend the holidays around our families because that is when most of our sales happen, and we need to make a change.” A listing for the two-and-a-half-year-old cheese shop is active here, and the couple is motivated to find the right owner. “We want to see the brand live on, so hopefully we’ll find the right person to take over,” Kim said. 2432 W. 44th Ave., 303-455-2221
