We’re barely a week into 2013 and the changes to Denver’s dining scene keep coming: I learned last night that Erika Cunha, owner of Living the Sweet Life is selling her LoHi bakery. Since opening in 2009, the glassy, jewel box of a space has become a regular stop for me (ahem, caramel-pecan bars) after lunch at Masterpiece Deli next door. Cunha’s baked goods are so delicious they nabbed her a best bakery nod in last year’s Top of the Town.

Cunha was recently approached by “an existing restaurant” to lease the bakery’s space. As owner of the location, Cunha says the opportunity is too good to pass up as it gives her the chance to spend more time with her newly expanded family. She has always believed in making time for life’s sweet moments—which was her main reason for opening the bakery. Now, with a 16-month-old little girl at home, that sweet spot has shifted away from working baker’s hours. “I will continue baking for family and friends and teaching classes, but the bakery is for sale,” Cunha says.

The sale includes most anything one would need to start a bakery: recipes, equipment, marketing materials, operating systems—even the Living the Sweet Life brand. The lease, however, is spoken for by an undisclosed restaurant. Serious buyers can contact Cunha at info@thesweetlifedenver.com.
