The first attack ad against Congresswoman Betsy Markey is now on television—a $330,000 campaign comparing the Democrat, who displaced Republican Marilyn Musgrave in the 4th Congressional District, to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (via CQ Politics).
“To small businesses, Betsy Markey is the same as Nancy Pelosi,” the ad states.
That's only $1 per issue!
The Fort Collins Coloradoan says the race will be one of the more expensive House battles in the nation. Americans for Prosperity is running the ad on Denver network affiliates and northern Colorado cable systems.
“Her decisions are already killing jobs and raising taxes, and the Colorado economy can’t afford more of Markey’s policies,” says Jeff Crank, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Colorado.
Meanwhile, Markey’s opponent in the race, Republican Cory Gardner, a state legislator from rural Yuma County, has received the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Business, the country’s largest small-business organization, reports the Coloradoan, in a separate article.
Gardner recently appeared at a Rotary Club meeting in Sterling, talking about growing up around his family’s farm-equipment dealership.
“I learned a lot at the Implement dealership, about people’s business, people’s lives, what it is that makes them tick, and what we need from a government,” Gardner says (via the Journal-Advocate).
