The farmers’ market is a right of summer. And now—as in end-of-summer-bounty—is the ideal time to embrace the local eating, shopping, and cooking that greenmarkets celebrate. Thus, our Fresh Picks challenge.

Fresh Picks is our farmers’ market recipe series (it officially launches tomorrow) that’s dedicated to eating, shopping, and cooking Colorado. Every Friday for the next five weeks we will focus on one ingredient. We’ll dive into where it’s grown and where to buy it—and then pair it with a recipe from a Denver chef. We challenge you to join us in eating Colorado fresh.

Participate: We hope you’ll take part not only by shopping, cooking, and—of course—eating your creations, but by sharing them. Upload your photos to Instagram or Twitter tagged with #5280eats and #farmersmarket; we will too! Check out our Pinterest board titled Fresh Picks and create your own. Use the comments section on the Fresh Picks weekly posts to share recipe feedback and/or link to a new ones. Sign up for our Table Talk newsletter to receive a weekly Fresh Picks round-up, full of the most inspiring recipes and images.

What’s in store: Get ready for recipes and sourcing details for Colorado-grown carrots, peaches, zucchini, melon, and corn. (And check out page 14 in our August issue for more Fresh Picks details.)
