You eat out. A lot. Why not nosh for a cause? This week, you can, thanks to the African Community Center’s (ACC) Restaurants for Refugees. At participating eateries, a portion of each dish sale will fund the ACC’s efforts to support local refugees.
More than 46,000 refugees from countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, Burma, Iraq, and the Democratic Republic of Congo live in Denver. Many leave behind friends, families, and familiar ways of life to escape war, poverty, political turbulence, and religious persecution. In Denver, they struggle to rebuild and adapt to new surroundings. The ACC strives to make those transitions just a little bit easier.
Give One Year of 5280 for just $16.
You can help the ACC’s efforts during Restaurants for Refugees. “It’s a way to let people know who their neighbors are,” says Lindsay Halsch, ACC’s marketing and communications coordinator. “And [a way to] be immersed in the culture.”
