Organizers of a gun show on Saturday at the Denver Merchandise Mart tried to ensure that everyone would be safe. “Absolutely no loaded weapons allowed,” a sign outside stated. Still, a gun went off during the event, and an unnamed person is being treated at Denver Health Medical Center for a chest wound, according to Fox 31. “Apparently, somebody was looking at the gun. That gun did discharge and one person was struck,” says Sergeant Candi Baker of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, declining to elaborate on the incident. The condition of the man who was shot is unclear. Witnesses tell 7News the man was unconscious after being shot. A nearby customer “picked up a gun and it was loaded, and he shot the guy next to him,” says Mark Cameron. Baker says it is illegal to have a loaded gun at a gun show.
