Congratulations to John Davies-Schley, a Denver 2nd grader, who is the national grand prize winner in the 2005 River of Words Contest for grades K-2. His poem, “From My Boat,” was chosen from tens of thousands of entries. The River of Words Environmental Poetry and Art Contest is affiliated with the Library of Congress Center for the Book and was co-founded by writer Pamela Michael and poet Robert Hass in 1995, during Hass’ two-year term as U.S. Poet Laureate.
