Note to would-be thieves: If you’re going to embark on a shoplifting spree in a second-hand clothing store, don’t fill out a clothing consignment application with your real name and number. That’s exactly what happened at Plato’s Closet in Lone Tree before two teenage girls allegedly ran out the front door with about $300 worth of clothing. “They weren’t exactly putting the two pieces of the puzzle together,” store manager Patricia Eaton tells 7News. Another tactical error: a failure to recognize that Lone Tree’s police department is located across the street. Within minutes the police were talking to the girls by phone, according to CBS4, although they have yet to be apprehended. Their third mistake? Being caught on video (via 9News).
