First impressions count—even in interior design. That’s why Brandy Hall, co-owner of
Everyday Lovely Design, knew this dining room inside a six-bedroom home in the Wellshire neighborhood had to make a statement. “It’s the first room you see when you walk in the front door, so we wanted it to be impactful,” she says.
Built by Smith & Meade, the home has toned-down base materials—creamy white walls with a textured finish and handsome French white-oak floors—which provided a simple backdrop for more striking elements. Hall chose an overscale wooden-beaded chandelier from Capital Lighting to “set the tone and enhance [the space] underneath it,” she says. The bohemian light fixture crowns a traditional wooden pedestal table from RH, which is surrounded by white acrylic chairs in the style of Verner Panton. “The curves make the space feel sexy,” Hall says, pointing out that they subtly lead one’s eye around the room.

On the back wall, a graphic abstract oil painting (which Hall’s team scored at a garage sale) is flanked by illuminated niches that display pottery, geodes, and other artful objects. The entire scene is framed by modern, black French doors that open onto a 218-square-foot concrete front patio and, after the sun sets, allow passersby to look inside the jewel-box-like space, which is visible from the street. “This room is gorgeous, especially at night,” Hall says. “Everything has a moment and a purpose.” We call that a good first impression.
