Month of Photography Denver launches tomorrow, with hundreds of exhibitions and events taking place all over the city and its suburbs. It seems an astute time, then, for me to call attention to one particularly talented local photographer: Benjamin Rasmussen. The 28-year-old brings a photojournalistic style to his work, showcasing people and places as they are, in their natural environments. In that way, he captures a true moment in time—a moment he lived and experienced as we, the viewers, are now.
You can view Rasmussen’s “Home” series—an exploration of his competing identities—at Space Gallery during the “In Query” exhibit, which opens Friday, March 15. The show was curated locally by Picture Society (full disclosure: the group was founded by 5280 photo editor Sarah LaVigne).
