Denver made national headlines when an unknown suspect was shot and killed on Monday morning by the Denver Police Crisis Negotiation Team. The suspect had held three people hostage inside the 7-Eleven at Colfax Avenue and Perry Street.
The man was being chased by police before he entered the West Colfax gas station around 8:30 a.m. There were two employees and a delivery woman inside. In the video below, courtesy of Fox31 Denver, you can see the man near the front door of the 7-Eleven and using one of the hostages—a woman wearing a jacket—as a human shield. After Denver police took a clear shot at the suspect, the hostage ran to safety. (Editor’s note: This is shown in the video below.) The woman later told a FOX31 reporter that the experience was terrifying, stressful, and that she wouldn’t “wish it on my enemy.”
