Color and movement overtake reality in the paintings of Salt Lake City artist Jean Arnold. In her works, San Francisco is a series of brightly colored geometric shapes, and Denver’s Casa Bonita a pattern of grays, reds, and oranges. Despite the abstraction, there’s reason in these cryptic paintings. Arnold, who will be at Plus Gallery tonight for the opening of her Onrush exhibit, is fascinated by the flux and energy of travel. Bonus: Plus Gallery recently moved to the old Benjamin Moore building, and its new, modern space is worth checking out. 6 p.m. Plus Gallery, 2501 Larimer St., 303-296-0927 Free
