On a scorching morning in Denver, city officials gathered at the steps of the City and County building on Monday as Denver’s new (and returning) leaders were sworn into office. After historic elections this spring, five new city councilmembers—three of whom defeated incumbents—took office, and former City Councilman Paul López was sworn in as clerk. Mayor Michael Hancock, who won reelection in an intense runoff against challenger Jamie Giellis, took the oath of office for his third and final term before delivering ceremonial remarks. Here’s what the day looked like in photos.
