BEER GEAR: ROCKMOUNT BREWS NEW DESIGN
Rockmount Ranch Wear, the famous Western shirt company started by Jack A. Weil in 1946, says cheers to this weekend’s Great American Beer Festival by introducing a shirt embroidered with hops vines. (After all, you’ve gotta dress the part while tasting and swilling the 1,884 beers on tap). Rockmount will also host a beer tasting on Friday with brews from Lyons-based Oskar Blues and Delaware’s Dogfish Head Brewery.

NEW: PI KITCHEN + BAR IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Just over a month ago, Pi Kitchen + Bar opened downtown in the Hilton Garden Inn. The restaurant’s shtick is high-end fusion but we found the lunch menu more basic than fusion with sandwiches, burgers, and salads. We ordered a burger, the interesting-sounding chicken tika masala sandwich with raita, the Black Forest ham with Gouda sandwich, and the truffled edamame ravioli appetizer. The savory, well balanced app was the highlight of the meal. And while the burger was well cooked, the tika masala sandwich arrived looking no different than a plain grilled chicken breast on a bun. The ham and cheese was serviceable but the skimpy portion of dried out, shredded Gouda left a lot to be desired. Verdict: We’ll go back again but we’ll pick our dishes carefully. 1400 Welton St., 303-603-8000
