Littleton residents who’ve yearned for gourmet take-out now have the RAV House, a small, family-owned shop at West Mineral Avenue and South Broadway that dishes up Italian food to go.
I stopped in recently for Mother Molly’s Ravioli, filled with beef and spinach, and a serving of the tomato-based meat sauce. Both items are made from family recipes, and hints of nutmeg give the combined dish a cozy aroma. The first bite won me over: The cooked pasta was tender and savory; the sauce thick and meaty. (I usually don’t buy prepared pasta sauce because most are too sweet. Not here.) Best of all: dinner prep took all of 15 minutes.

The RAV House also offers cured meats, truffles, meatballs, artisanal cheese, and specialty oils and vinegars. If you’re looking for something to nibble on while your pasta cooks, try a round of the tangy-creamy La Tur cheese (from Italy’s Piedmont region) and serve it with a bag of the RAV House’s “Cracks,” crisp, house-made crackers.
Bonus: The RAV House can put together party platters for a range of occasions.
