Say hello to Republican Juan Botero. He has decided to run against Congressman Tom Tancredo in the August 8 Republican primary. His beef with Tancredo: Immigration. He will be speaking today at a press conference.
Juan Botero, a Jefferson County resident who has worked as a communications consultant to U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard, is expected to announce his candidacy today at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Democrat Bill Winter also is challenging Tancredo.
As Tancredo continues on his immigrant-bashing mission, most recently attacking several church denominations, perhaps there is a possibility, however remote right now, that he will alienate the voters in his district to the point of rejection in November. It’s a longshot, I know, but I’m glad to see Botero and Winter step up to the plate.
