Say hello to Republican Juan Botero. He has decided to run against Congressman Tom Tancredo in the August 8 Republican primary. His beef with Tancredo: Immigration. He will be speaking today at a press conference.
Juan Botero, a Jefferson County resident who has worked as a communications consultant to U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard, is expected to announce his candidacy today at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Botero confirmed Thursday he will be a candidate and said he disagrees with Tancredo’s approach to immigration.

Democrat Bill Winter also is challenging Tancredo.
As Tancredo continues on his immigrant-bashing mission, most recently attacking several church denominations, perhaps there is a possibility, however remote right now, that he will alienate the voters in his district to the point of rejection in November. It’s a longshot, I know, but I’m glad to see Botero and Winter step up to the plate.
