State GOP aide Matt Milner called 911 on Saturday, claiming union organizers blocked his exit during a town hall meeting at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ Local 68 hall and demanded that he erase a video recording of Democratic U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, according to The Denver Post.
But Mike Cerbo, executive director of the Colorado AFL-CIO, which sponsored the event, claims Milner, who is paid by the GOP to shadow Bennet with a video camera, was looking for a conflict and wasn’t forced to leave or erase a tape.
It’s now up to authorities in Adams County to decide whether there was any wrongdoing at the event that Milner filmed as Bennet spoke. The progressive Square State has taken note of the confrontation, taking a jab at GOP leader Dick Wadhams, implying that Milner is out to make Bennet look bad: “You’ll get that white whale, Dick!”
Bennet, meanwhile, will soon be tasked with voting on the Employee Free Choice Act, which supporters say would make it easier for unions to organize. Bennet has yet to take a position on the matter, according to a Post editorial.
