While most housing markets across the nation have yet to hit rock bottom, a handful of cities are doing comparatively better, including Denver. Los Angeles, Boston, Phoenix, and San Diego also have the fundamentals that Forbes says are key to better values. Denver tops the list: “It had 25 percent of its property sales occur within approximately 25 percent of the city’s ZIP codes. This means sales in various parts of the city were fairly evenly distributed, showing proportionate activity.” How much is your home worth? Probably more than you think, as 5280 discovered in May. Not only is Denver’s housing market healthier than other cities, it’s so environmentally friendly that Lisa Jackson, who directs the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, recently visited the city in search of ideas for President Barack Obama’s initiative to green the nation, according to The Denver Post. She liked the solar awnings she saw on houses in north Denver, at the site of the original Elitch Gardens. The city is getting kudos on the hotel front, too: The American Automobile Association has rated the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa as one of the country’s favorite 10 historic hotels (in no particular order), notes the Denver Business Journal.
