  • The Wedge Salad, Revisited

Stout Street Social brings a classic up-to-date.

The wedge salad may be a classic, but it’s also one of the more underwhelming dishes in American cuisine. That’s not the case at three-month-old Stout Street Social. Here, any likeness to the standard wedge begins and ends with a hunk of iceberg and halved grape tomatoes. Thick cuts of pork belly, fried and tossed in a bourbon-maple glaze, take the place of bacon bits. Blue cheese dressing is lightened up with mere crumbles of cheese in a tangy white balsamic vinaigrette. And cucumber, paper-thin radish slices, and a generous sprinkling of fried onions finish off the salad makeover. Dig in for a fresh take on an old standby. 1400 Stout St., 720-214-9100,
