In what is likely to be the last appearance of a national political figure in Colorado before Tuesday’s election, Vice President Dick Cheney will appear in Colorado Springs on Monday.
No one can accuse Cheney of not making every effort to save his boss’ job. The Monday visit will be his eighth stop in Colorado since the start of the campaign. Cheney was in Grand Junction a week ago, and he’ll be returning to the state on a red-eye flight from Hawaii, which has emerged as a surprise battleground state. America’s 50th state has voted for Republican presidential candidates only twice since joining the Union in 1959 (Richard Nixon in 1972 and Ronald Reagan in 1984).

Cheney will appear at 10:15 a.m. Monday at a RNC Victory ’04 Rally to be held at the Penrose Equestrian Center, 1045 W. Rio Grande St., Colorado Springs.
